A Unique Visit in Saguenay for Olympic Athlete Clara Hughes

Clara Hughes and her team will arrive in the city of Saguenay in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region of Quebec, Canada, on the Saguenay River, about 200 kilometers north of Quebec City on April 1st, and no, this is not just an April Fool’s joke!

She has a very special tour planned for her day’s stay. Clara will visit the National School of Learning with Puppets on 870 Street, Boily, Chicoutimi.

This visit will be very unique and the first of its kind during the Bell Let's Talk Big Ride of Clara Hughes. This very special and honourable school presents an alternative way for adults suffering from mental health issues to learn in a safe and fun environment. The organization and school was founded in 1990 by the community champion for this stop M. Richard Boucher.

Mr. Boucher is also the general manager and artistic director of all the works for the organization. The founding of this school was also made possible thanks to Rejean Arsenault, Coordinator, Clermont Lavoie, Jean-Guy Boily and Gabriel Bouchard. The organization uses drama and puppetry to create easy to understand and educational courses and helps to develop language, personal and social skills.

The city of Saguenay has a population of 143,000 and has several natural and urban attractions. These places offer a variety of activities that can please a large number of its citizens and tourists. These activities include cycling, hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, fishing and simply walking in nature. On the urban side of the region, the historic city that somewhat resembles the old part of Quebec City offers many shops, restaurants and museums.
