Bicycle Sport Kick Tournament in Nanaimo for Clara Hughes, Before Heading off to the Big City of Van by

Journal Notes

Clara Hughes will help host a bicycle sport kick tournament in Nanaimo before leaving for the city of Vancouver later on in the day on May 17th.

The Mental Health initiative event will be the first of its kind during the Olympic Champion’s Big Ride and the first time that herself and her team experience such an event that combines cycling and soccer. The tournament will be held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Clara will have the opportunity to drop the first ball on the field and make a small speech to all the young champions and adult audiences.

After this morning event, Clara and her own team of champions will head off to the city of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, to spread the word about Mental Health. Although this is not the capital city of the province, it is viewed with such importance and has the biggest population of the province with over 550 000 inhabitants. The Bell Let’s Talk team are scheduled to arrive at the city’s convention center in the Jack Poole Plaza at 12:30 p.m. and will stay at this location for a couple of hours to spread the positive word about their Big Ride and Mental Health.

From 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. the Olympics veteran will host an event at The Kettle. The Kettle Society is a Vancouver group that supports those living with mental health problems through housing, hosting events, spreading awareness and promoting public inclusion in the community. Clara Hughes will join with the members of this strong group of champions to spread awareness in her own special way by making heartwarming and serious speeches while adding her distinctive touch of humor and real-life stories of sport, skating, cycling and mental health.
