Clara Hughes Arrives Safely in Rimouski After Crossing her First Waterway. by

Journal Notes

After travelling 89 kilometers from the city of Matane by bike and another 60 km by ferry, Clara and her team made their way across the Comeau Bay “Baie Comeau” to arrive in the city of Rimouski.

They arrived at 2 p.m. on the dot where the punctual Bell Let’s Talk team met with awaiting fans. Clara was very excited to meet with hundreds of students, but was also a little saddened by the fact that this city’s visit will be the last in the province of Quebec.

From 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Clara and her team had a very high profile yet relaxing conference. The conference was held at the Saint-Pie-X Community Center in the core of the city. Along with Clara Hughes, the event was hosted by the Canadian Association of Mental Health division of Rimouski. The conference was held till 8:30 p.m. but Clara stayed with fans until almost 10 p.m.

On an interesting side note, I was attending a sports conference today with professional trainers at the Louis-Riel High School Indoor Track in Ottawa. One of the speakers, who fittingly worked with cyclists, told me something he once heard of when thinking about an athlete’s attitude. If you take every letter of the alphabet and convert them to numbers 1 to 26 (a=1, b=2, c=3 etc…) the world ATTITUDE adds up to 100. He tells his athletes to strive for positive attitudes to reach this 100%.

Although this can apply to anyone and all should strive for this 100%, I personally think Clara definitely has this kind of winning attitude!
