Journal Notes

Clara Hughes and her Big Ride is scheduled to stop in the city of Truro, Nova Scotia, on April 14th.

This stop will mark the one month checkpoint of Clara’s Big Ride journey after starting her big journey in Toronto back on March 14th. Clara’s fans will have another chance to skate with the Olympic champion as she will be hosting her second public skating event of the Big Ride in this city. From 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. members of the community will get a chance to participate in a family skate and take part in experiencing several special featured public appearances. The event will be held at The Colchester Stadium at 14 Lorne Street, Truro, Nova Scotia.

The community champion for this city is Susan Henderson and she works at the Canadian Mental Health Association’s local branch. Clara will also be visiting Central Colchester Junior High on yet another school visit!

The city of Truro is located right in the heart of the province of Nova Scotia and is therefore also known as the “Hub City”. With around 13,000 people in population, this city is not too densely populated and is composed of several environmentally conscious areas, forestry and nature areas.

The region of Truro is truly known for its walking paths that are used solely by pedestrians and hikers. These trails include Cobequid, Victoria Park and Kiwanis Park.

This said, however, there are also a variety of bike paths in the downtown core and forest areas alike that will be available to Clara Hughes and her team of Bell’s Big Ride Let’s Talk cyclers.
