Clara Hughes in Windsor – A City of Firsts by

Journal Notes

Reaching the most southern point of her journey, Clara Hughes arrived in the city of Windsor at 1 PM on March 17th. This stop featured a special evening workshop from 6:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This city is the first to include two community champions, Gisèle Séguin and Ron Foster. Miss. Séguin is the Director of Public Affairs, Communications and Philanthropy at the Windsor Regional Hospital and Mr. Foster is the Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications. Since they both work in the same wing of the Regional Hospital, it was fitting that they both begin a public meeting entitled "In Her Shoes”.

This meeting was also a first for the trip in terms of content since for the first time during her journey Clara took the take time to talk only about her personal experiences and her rehabilitation. The latter was no doubt difficult for her and I commend her greatly for being so strong and inspiring!

The conference took place in the Ciocairo center in rooms D and E at a price of $25 for adults and $10 for students. All proceeds go to the Let’s Talk foundation towards the mental health initiative. Another foundation that was presented at the event was BUMP Windsor. BUMP, Bicycle Use Master Plan, is a foundation that is focused on the safe use of bicycles in the Windsor and surrounding areas.
