Clara Hughes is on her Way to Nova Scotia’s Capital city, Halifax! by

Journal Notes

Clara Hughes is leaving Truro and is on her way to Nova Scotia’s Capital city, Halifax where she is set to arrive on April 15th.

Although she does not have a planned entrance or greeting event upon arrival, she bound to meet up with hundreds of fans in the outer streets of the city. After her arrival, however, she does have a great event planned for the evening with local fans.

The main conference will be named “Let’s Keep Talking” and held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event is geared to educate the people of Halifax that has a population of around 400,000 as well as others who wish to attend and learn about mental health stigma through the means of another unique “spoken word poetry” séance, music, dance and live art.

This will be the third “spoken word poetry” event for Clara’s Big Ride which is always very emotional and receives rave reviews. There will be many other talented performers other than Clara Hughes herself. The funds raised at this event will go to Clara’s own foundation along with the Nova Scotia Mental Health Foundation.

The community champion of Halifax, the beautiful Nova Scotia Capital is none other than Starr Dobson. Ms. Dobson is a former news anchor who has spoken with a large variety of Olympians, including skaters just like Clara Hughes, as a journalist for CTV News. She left CTV News in June of 2013 as she wanted to make a difference for mental health. Starr Dobson is now the President and Chief Executive Officer at the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia.
