Last Three Stops for Clara Hughes in the Province of Newfoundland. by

Journal Notes

Clara Hughes will travel to her last three stops by bike, on her trip around the glorious province of Newfoundland. These three stops are in the towns of Hopedale, Nain and Happy Valley-Goose Bay. These small towns will all have unique experiences to offer Clara Hughes and her team of champion cyclists. They are all very excited for their last stops in this province, but also anxiously awaiting their future travels up in the Territories of Northern Canada.

After a resting day in the city of Saint-John’s Newfoundland, Clara will cycle to the town of Hopedale for the 47th day of her Big Ride tour across Canada. The Olympic cyclist will lead the way to this beautiful town of 5,907 situated right on the tip of the North-Eastern coast of the province. She will be hosting an event at the Amos Comenius Memorial School on April 29th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Clara and her team of Canadian Champions will then cycle over to the town of Nain to host another event in the evening. This event will be called “Celebrate Life” and commemorate all of those who have fought for releasing the stigma surrounding mental health and those who are still actively pursuing it.

On April 30th, the amazing Big Ride Bell Let’s Talk team will travel to the small town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay. This town with an original name will fittingly feature very original and customary Newfoundland events to bid Clara farewell and good luck for the rest of her ride outside of Newfoundland. The event will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Later that day, she will cycle to the town of Kuujjuaq, Quebec, to prepare for her flight to Nunavut.
