Journal Notes

Clara Hughes will roll into the capital city of Saint-John’s Newfoundland on April 27th where she will be spending two days of her Big Ride tour across Canada. The Olympic champion is schedules to arrive in the city at around 2:30 p.m.

She will meet with fans at Signal Hill for a very special Newfoundlander-style welcoming event. The streets will be filled with roaring fans on the backdrop of St-John’s beautiful scenery. This capital city has a population of just over 100,000 and the skating champion and her team plan on meeting as many of these Newfoundlanders as possible.

From 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Clara will host her first cocktail party of the Big Ride. The event will feature special performances and speeches from Shawn Stratton, the Stella Burry Inclusion Choir and of course the keynote speaker herself Clara Hughes along with her husband. Bev Hiscock will also be present for this special evening party. Ms. Hiscock is a retired worker from the Hospital and Health Care Center of St-John’s Newfoundland and Eastern Health.

There are also many other things to do in the city of Saint John’s that cover all the different areas of tourism. Newfoundlanders are very connected to their natural wildlife and flora in addition to protecting wetlands and waterways. Tourists and locals enjoy travelling along the East Coast Trails, visiting Cape Spear, Signal Hill, Cabot Tour the Government House and many other attractions.

Clara has a resting day in this city before travelling to the city of Hopedale, Newfoundland.

On a side note, we would like to mention that Newfoundlanders are among the world’s friendliest and most welcoming people you will ever meet, and as such, Newfoundland should be on everybody’s Dream Travel List of places to visit.
