PERU: “NEVADO PASTORURI” A BLESSING IN DISGUISE, OR THE OTHER WAY AROUND?

Never before had I been in the snow, the only snow-like, I had ever touched with my hands, is the fridge of the refrigerator of my house, and I am not even sure whether it is any closer. Lol.

The second day in “Ancash” was a whole experience and a challenge, as well. This time the target point was the “Nevado Pastoruri”, which is a snowy mountain in the centre of “Peru”, located in the department of “Ancash”, whose peak is 5.240m in height above the sea. When arriving, I was so excited, but afterwards this emotion turned into uneasiness.

First and foremost, the excursion consisted in going up through the treks roughly 3km. mounting a horse and once at the peak, do the hide while appreciating the view, the lake and other tourist attractions. However, from the whole excursion group only three people got to the peak of the mountain on foot: the guide, my mom and me. The rest got there mounting a horse. The reason I decided to get there on foot, was because of my mom the horse she was about to ride, starting to whinny and get crazy, so I immediately helped her out to get down from it, that is why, we walked the whole way up together on foot. There was a couple with their little kid in our group and they also made it on foot, but unfortunately, they gave up half way of it.

So, we walked approximately 2 hours or more, sweating and starving as hell, at least me. The only thing I could think of was “where” and “when”: Where the peak of the mountain was, and when we will have lunch. lol
