The Bell Let’s Talk Team Lead by Clara Hughes to Stop in New Glasgow by

Journal Notes

On April 16th, Olympic Medallist Clara Hughes and her Bell Let’s Talk Team will arrive in the town of New Glasgow with its population of just under 10,000. Tourists here can find a variety of interesting attractions in the city or in nature.

Just like the vast majority of her stops, Clara Hughes will be visiting another town with huge embranchments of cycling and hiking trails. New Glasgow provides a safe environmentally friendly alternative to using motorised vehicles with its Riverfront trail system. This trail system is absolutely magnificent however, staff members warn that it is very important to be cautious of animals, especially from coyotes, that try to mix themselves with human interactions on the trails deep into the forest.

The town also has a lot of arts and culture activities as well as places to visit such as the Glasgow Square, the New Glasgow Theatre of Arts and the Celtic Circle Culture Center. Tourists can also take advantage of the New Glasgow Marina and its harbour’s attraction.

Our Olympic athlete Clara Hughes, will be hosting an event called “Voices”, that will express just how important it is for everyone to have a voice and stand up for what they believe in. There will be a raffle, silent auction and many door prizes to be won. The event will be held from 7 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. at the town’s wellness center. Maureen Jones, manager of community initiatives for Mental Health Services with the Pictou County Health Authority is the community champion for this stop, and will also be in attendance.
