Two More Small Stops in Newfoundland for our Olympic Champion Clara Hughes and her Cycling Team by

Journal Notes

Clara Hughes will be making two smaller stops in the towns of Clarenville and Bay Roberts before making a big stop in St-John’s, the Capital of Newfoundland.

These smaller events of two hours in length are just as important to Clara Hughes. In fact, she has said that she loves small events because she feels like she gets to connect with each and every person in the crowd!

Her and her Bell Let’s Talk cycling team will be stopping in the town of Clarenville on April 25th. This town has a little population of 6,000 and a very quaint vibe. It is home to many beautiful attractions. Clara will be hosting a meet and greet at the local lions club from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This event is open to the general public and will be held at the White Hills Ski Chalet in the Resort Day Lodge.

After this small community event in Clarenville, Clara and her team of champions will cycle just over 130 kilometers to the town of Bay Roberts, Newfoundland. Here she will host her fourth skating event of her Big Ride across Canada. This will take place at the Bay Arena from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Clara Hughes and the Bell Let’s Talk Cycling Team will meet with locals and hit the ice to raise awareness for mental health and wellness. She will be the keynote speaker of a very special on-ice speech presented to the local youth and adults.

The community champions for these two cities are Susan Ridgley-Galway and Evelyn Tilley for the town of Clarenville and Cindy Clarke in Bay Roberts. These three women are all very active Mental Health advocates.
