Why will the City of Kitchener add some fun to Clara Hughes’ Big Ride? by

Journal Notes

For the first time during her tour, Clara will host a party instead of a conference. From 6:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on March 20th, she will host a reception called “Journey of Hope." Grand River Hospital, the host and location of the event, will provide free refreshments and many activities all throughout the evening.

Activities include art exhibitions, a shoot-out hockey challenge, a photo booth and a planetarium from the Museum of Kitchener. Furthermore, this event is free and all members of the community are invited. The community champion in this city is Cheryl Evans, Communications Officer in public affairs at Grand River Hospital.

The City of Kitchener is often associated with Waterloo and is often referred to as Kitchener-Waterloo area which has a combined population of nearly 400,000 and area of 3,100 square kilometers.

This region has several sports centers, the most common being the RIM Park complex. This athletic center is very unique and extremely large. It includes a large sports center which contains 4 arenas, 6 gymnasiums and 3 indoor courts over its three levels. The rest of the site is made up of golf courses, trails and an outdoor sports center.

I had the chance to marvel at the beautiful complex during three provincial championships in competitive volleyball. This tourism site is very reputable and is home to several elite athletes like Clara Hughes.
