Words From the Founder

Dear Fellow Life Enthusiasts,

We hope that you all have had a fast and furious start to the New Year. Starting out the door fast is a great way to start the year and then to keep building momentum from there.
It is not always easy to stay on track and it is important not to give up if you do fall off a little. That is why we started with the Habit of Persistence last month. We hope you took the time to cut out our little message and repeated it to yourself daily. We don’t know of many situations or events in life that you reach in a straight line, and it is persistence that will keep you going when you become off course.

Success, is in fact, "The Progressive Realization of Pre-Determined Worthwhile Goals”, and achieving goals and dreams, overcoming challenges, these are all the results of those that possess and maintain a Success Mindset.

It is sometimes hard to do all that is required to achieve success alone, and most often it takes a team to achieve a dream! It can be a team that you create for studying, to accomplish a project at work or it can also be one person that you go to the gym with and that can help you go when you don’t feel like it.

Who is your Dream Team? Make sure that you pick people that have the same ambitions as you and that will help you instead of laugh at you. These people should be there to help you and also to hold you accountable. They should be the team that you can also help support in return and that you can all persist towards your goals and dreams together.

Surround yourself with people that have, and are always working toward improving their Success Mindset. Be sure to look for those 3 or 4 individuals to complete your Dream Team and make sure they are Enthusiastic!

This is why, this month, we will talk about the Habit of Enthusiasm.

Enthusiasm is a habitual response that can be trained and developed. People with enthusiasm tend to look for the good in every situation and they focus on the good in people as well. Enthusiasm has to be one of the best personal traits that people like to be around and what everyone wanting to succeed should develop to the fullest.
Did You Know

The first celebration of Black History Month took place at Kent State University in February 1970. In 1976, as part of the United States Bicentennial, the U.S. government officially recognized Black History Month, with President Gerald Ford urging Americans to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.” The theme of Black History Month 2014: “Civil Rights in America.”

From Feb. 13 to 15, the Romans celebrated the feast of Lupercalia. The fete included a matchmaking lottery, in which young men drew the names of women from a jar. The two would then be coupled up for the remainder of the festival or longer, if the match was right.

In 1913, Hallmark Cards of Kansas City, Missouri began the mass production of valentines. Since then, it has evolved into a multi- billion dollar industry. Now that’s a lot of love!

Change Your Drink

The average American drinks as much as fifty gallons of soda and similar sweetened beverages per year. A regular twenty ounce drink of cola contains around 17 teaspoons of sugar and such drinks are the single biggest source of extra sugar in the diet of Americans.

The average adolescent in California effectively consumes thirty nine pounds worth of sugar from such drinks every year, with the risk of obesity jumping by sixty percent with every extra drink consumed by a child in a day.

To avoid this health trap, you need to take action. Water should be the first choice to drink when thirsty, and should also be ordered in preference to high calorie drinks when eating out. Apart from water, drink more fat-free or low-fat milk and less sweetened drinks. You can infuse water with flavor by adding lemons, berries, mint leaves, limes, cucumbers and other natural flavors.

If you drink tea or coffee, have it unsweetened and if you cannot go without a sweetened drink, make it a small instead of a large.

More than any other characteristic of human personality...

Enthusiasm has been the companion of success in every major achievement or worthwhile endeavor. It's been a major factor in the success and longevity of our progress and growth.

Enthusiasm is that extra spark of optimism that gives all of us the inspiration to perform at peak levels and it makes everything more enjoyable.

Enthusiasm creates a magnetism of projected energy and excitement. It's the kind of thing you truly enjoy sharing with others and others enjoy receiving.

In order to work on this new habit and create extra enthusiasm, ask yourself:

What are you happiest about? What are you most excited about?
What are you grateful for? How often do you express your gratitude?

Please cut out this box. Answer the four questions above. For the next 28 days, you should keep telling and repeating to yourself:

"I'm happy...excited and grateful!, I'm happy...excited and grateful!" and Every Day - In Every Way, I am becoming more and more Enthusiastic! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

I hope you are enjoying these short monthly Habits of Success that we are so excited to be sharing with you. See you all in March.

Until then, remember to always Dream Big and Dream Often.

Tech Tips For Travelers

Travelling is rarely guaranteed to go smoothly, but there are at least a few travel headaches that can be kept at bay thanks to technology.

If you know how to make use of it in the proper manner, technology can increase your likelihood of having a positive experience on your next vacation.
One good tip is to use tech to keep updated on your flight status. Flights are commonly disrupted due to one reason or another, and delays and cancellations can be tough to keep up with.

However, many airlines today enable you to track your flight status via their website or app. So if you own a smartphone you can stay updated on what is happening with your flight no matter where you are.

If an app is offered by your airline for this purpose, be sure to download it and ensure your smartphone has been fully charged before you set off to the airport.

Translation apps are another good idea if you are jetting off to a foreign region of the world. Many translation apps on tablets and smartphones are free of charge, and also have voice recognition software, meaning that communicating with people who speak a different language has never been easier.

Don’t Let Fear Of Success Hold You Back

Success usually depends on overcoming your fears: fear of taking a risk, fear of asserting yourself, fear of exposing your deepest self to other people, and ultimately, fear of failure. But for some people, the real fear is—success itself.

The prospect of actually reaching a goal can be terrifying: What comes next? How will people react? What if your goal turns out to be meaningless? These worries can lead to procrastination and self-sabotage. To overcome them, and achieve the success you were meant to enjoy, follow this advice:
Face your fears. Explore the emotions you have about success. Are you worried that people will expect more from you? Or that your friends will resent you? Locking your worries away often makes them stronger. Analyze what you’re really afraid of, and it will usually lose its impact.
Think about the rewards. Don’t let concerns about the future distract you from the positive benefits of reaching your goals. Visualize the upside: the final product, a satisfied customer, a check, or some other tangible results. Anticipate the feeling of satisfaction (or relief). Think about these every time you start to feel self-doubt.
Be realistic. Remember that success won’t solve all your problems. You’ll be better able to deal with any letdown by maintaining an upbeat but rational attitude about what comes next. The feeling of accomplishment can make everyday irritations easier to tolerate even if you can’t erase them.
Focus on the process. The end result may be important, but as with any journey, the individual steps can be more meaningful than the destination. Concentrate on what you’re learning, the people you meet, and the experiences you collect as you move closer to your goal. Make success part of the process, not the only object, and you’ll be less nervous about completion.
Select worthwhile goals. For example, the slow realization that becoming CEO may not be that important can reduce your motivation to succeed. Pursue goals that address your needs, not anyone else’s. Take the time to think through what success will really mean before committing yourself. You’ll only be excited about success if it’s what you truly want.

How To Generate Great Ideas

When you have an article that needs to be written, a project that requires new insights or ideas, or a meeting with the boss, you cannot just sit and wait to be inspired. It helps if you have a collection of tools to which you can turn, and some sort of system that can generate ideas even when your cupboard feels bare. One good tip is to always carry a journal with you.

Crazy Science Facts
An average cloud weighs about 216,000 pounds – making it as heavy as about two thirds of the weight of a blue whale. A dark storm cloud on the other hand weighs an average of around a hundred and five point eight million pounds – making it equal to the full weight of not one but three blue whales.
- - -
It sounds unbelievable, but the naked human eye can actually see up to 2.5 million light years away – or to put it another way, the Andromeda Galaxy, which is the farthest object that can be seen with plain sight in the sky above us.
- - -
Toads can sense earthquakes. Scientists are still unclear as to how they are able to do this, but the fact remains that three days prior to an earthquake striking L’Aquila in Italy back in 2009, an entire toad population decided to vacate their breeding grounds and head somewhere a little safer.
Keeping a journal exclusively for ideas is an excellent way of making sure that the creative well remains full. Another good idea is to make use of the alphabet, and try to generate at least one idea for every single letter. Another clever idea is to use what has been termed “Google Roulette.” Type a few random and unrelated words into the search engine and see what comes up. It can also be helpful to engage more with your surroundings – such as by looking at books on your shelves that you may not have perused for many years. Great ideas are all around us, just waiting to be noticed.

How To Deal With Extreme Cold

Cold weather can have a seriously adverse effect on our health, compromising a respiratory system that may already be in some distress and also causing frostbite and hypothermia.

People who have lung problems can find extreme cold particularly troublesome, with higher virus levels causing illness and aggravating systems further.

The best prevention is staying indoors and out of the cold altogether, but the reality is that sometimes this is just not possible. Hypothermia can even be triggered inside by seemingly mild cool temperatures between 60 to 65 degrees.

Thermostats should be set over 65 degrees. Friends and neighbors should check on the elderly on a regular basis in order to make certain that their homes are heated to an adequate degree.

Symptoms of hypothermia include drowsiness, slurred speech, slow heartbeat, the appearance of being in a coma or sometimes even dead, forgetfulness, a weak pulse and shallow breathing. Hypothermia should not be attempted to be treated at home. - - - - - -
